Privacy and Cookies Policy
Effective Date: 30-07-2026
At Maar World, we respect your privacy and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit this website. It is short because the site is built to collect as little as possible.
1. Who We Are
Maar World is the data controller for this website.
Contact: hello@maar.world
2. Cookies
This website sets no cookies. It stores nothing in your browser — no cookies, no local storage, no session storage. There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to ask you to accept, and no consent for you to give or withdraw.
3. Analytics
We run no analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager and no tracking pixel anywhere on this site. We do not measure your visit and we do not build a profile of you.
4. What Data We Collect
- Server logs: our hosting provider records standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested) in order to serve the site and keep it secure. We do not use these logs to identify or profile visitors.
- Fonts and assets: every font, stylesheet and script is served from this domain. No third-party font service or CDN is contacted when a page loads.
- Purchases: all sales are handled externally on Bandcamp and Gumroad. We do not process payments or store payment details here.
5. Embedded Video and Audio
Video and audio hosted by YouTube, Vimeo and SoundCloud are not loaded when a page opens. In their place we show a still frame from the video with a play button on it, and nothing at all is requested from YouTube, Google, Vimeo or SoundCloud until you press it. That still frame is our own copy, served from this domain, so showing it tells the provider nothing.
If you press it, the player is built into the page at that moment and the provider is contacted for the first time. From then on that provider’s own privacy policy applies and it may set its own cookies. We reduce what it learns as far as each provider allows: YouTube is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, Vimeo is loaded with Do Not Track enabled, and the provider is told only that the request came from maar.world — never which page you were reading. YouTube’s own embedding terms require us to identify the site this much; we send it nothing beyond that.
This choice is not remembered. We store nothing to record it, so it applies to that one player only, and reloading the page returns every player to its unloaded state. Each page also keeps a plain link to open the media on the provider’s own site instead, and if you browse without JavaScript that link is all you get — no player is ever built.
6. Third-Party Content We Do Load
Two exceptions are worth naming plainly:
- Dropbox: a small number of card pages display artwork hosted on Dropbox, and some download links point at Dropbox. Where that artwork appears, Dropbox receives a request when the page loads and may collect technical information to deliver the file.
- Maar Orbiter: the pages reached from a physical Maar card automatically forward you to
orbiter.plantasia.space, our listening application, a moment after they open. Each of those pages also shows a normal link, so you can see where you are going.
7. Legal Basis for Processing
We process the limited technical data described above on the basis of legitimate interest — keeping the website functional, available and secure. Because we set no cookies and run no analytics, we do not rely on consent as a legal basis.
8. Data Retention
- Server logs are kept by our host for a limited period for security purposes.
- We hold no analytics data, because none is collected.
- We do not keep personal data longer than necessary.
9. Data Transfers Outside the EU
Dropbox and our hosting provider may process data outside the EU, including in the United States. Where that happens, safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are applied to protect your data.
10. Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct your data
- Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority
To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@maar.world.
11. Updates
We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
